President adviser in free zones affairs in a meeting with Indian minister in regarding to invest capital for Chabahar Port Developing and establishing Rail Way Chabahar-Fahraj said there is not any problem or obstacle for investing capital of Indian companies. The Parliament approved a bill for annexation of Shahid Beheshti & Shahid Kalantari jetties to Chabahar Free Zone. So these jetties will be considered as Free Zone for max further 6 months. Dr. Salahi, President Adviser in free economic zones affairs, with reference to historical relationship between two nations and India’s economical & industrial progress recently said Iran will be meet India invest capital in regarding to transiting goods to Afghanistan and CIS countries.Indian minister focuses on investing capital regard to significance of Chabahar Port for transiting Indian goods to CIS and Afghanistan and import of raw material from the same countries to India.

B. History: 

Since port of Imam Khomeini is close by industrial and agricultural bases and also to big markets, it is considered as one of the most important commercial ports of Iran. Being near to Mahshahr, Abadan and Ahwaz airports avails necessary facilities for transportation companies to handle smoothly their cargoes. Since half of non-oil products of the country are exported via Port of Imam Khomeini it is considered as the greatest trade terminal of Iran. Development in transportation industry along with well-equipped facilities in Port of Imam Khomeini has made this port as a ‘Golden Ring’ for transiting goods in the region. This ring links Northern cold lands to Southern warm waters. Port of Imam Khomeini, having the most progressive and updated anchorage equipment provides the most complete and powerful anchorage services for the owners of ships and goods. This port having been linked with I.R.I. Railway and also enjoying various berths , depots , wharf and developed equipment , facilitate direct carriage between ships and the most important industrial and trade centers of Iran and neighboring countries .

C. Port of Imam Khomeini Facilities:

This port as one of the most important and greatest trade ports of Iran enjoys following facilities:* Transit of goods via this port to CIS destinations, as per increasing inquiries for transit to CIS. * The most well-equipped control management system in this region; (V.T.M., V.T.S.)* Electronic Data Interchange (E.D.I.)* Computerized system for controlling port equipment, load meter and cargoes * Well-developed security system with C.C.T.V.* 2 equipped fire station * Well- experienced port personnel * Tele-communication facilities; computer telex, etc.This port enjoys also following terminals: * Terminal for CNTR  * Terminal for industrial powder * Terminal and silos for grains to be transited * Terminal for general cargoes * Terminal for barges and ore Now we describe 2 main terminals as below: 1. Terminal for CNTR: This port enjoys a terminal for CNTR having modern equipment including, e.g., gantry cranes, transtainers and top lifts. There are also C.F.S. and large yards for CNTR providing facility for loading / offloading 400,000 TEU per year. Since this terminal is linked to I.R.I. Railway and enjoys very large and special warehouses, it has a major role in the transportation system of the country.2. Terminal for industrial powders:

Since Aluminum powder and ironstone are primary substance for many industries of the country , one of port of Imam Khomeini terminals has been set aside for these products which is equipped with deposits , special equipment for loading ironstone , and conveyor belts . Also one of berth posts has been allocated to ships containing Aluminum powder. Two ships at the same time can berth in this terminal and as it is linked to I.R.I. Railway there is possibility to discharge the same at the same time and load the cargo on wagon or truck. 

  

D. Warehouses and Port Area: 

Yards: 10,980,790 sq.m.Warehouses: 287,940 sq.m.

The port includes three berths for general cargo and bulk , container , silo for cereal , barges , Gulf agency , trans-terminal , and ore with 25,2,1,1,1,and 1 posts respectively . The capacities of these berths in tons range from 45,000-60,000.

The temperature range during the year is +22.8 to + 34 degrees centigrade. The humidity range during the year is %62 to %89.

b. Warehouses and Ports Area:

(1) Warehouses and port area of Shahid Beheshti :     Yards: 350,000 sq.m.     Warehouse: 18,000 sq.m.(2) Ware houses and port area of Shahid Kalantari :      Yards: 15,000 sq.m.     Warehouses: 3,000 sq.m.The berths in port of Chabahar include general cargo and bulk, and general cargo of Shahid Kalantari with 2, 2 and 4 posts respectively. Berth capacities range from 2,000-25,000 tons.

c. Chabahar Harbor Installations:

 

1. Shahid Beheshti Jetty: With a total of 600 m of length, the jetty can berth four vessels of up to 25000 gross tonnage and 11 meter draught simultaneously.2. Shahid Kalantary Jetty: Next to the breakwater in the harbor, with a length of 1100 meters, four metallic ready-made jetties measuring 45 x 30 square meters have been connected to the break water by a bridge.  The jetty number 5, known as terminal harbor, measuring 180 meters, can berth floaters and vessels of 25000 gross tonnage and 10.5 meters depth of draught.  3. Shohadaye Haftom Tir Jetty: Located in the central part of Chabahar city and sheltered by its special breakwater of 420 meters, the jetty is able to berth motor boats as well as local fishing boats.  The harbor is known as Shohadaye Haftom Tir fishing harbor.   The jetty is 417 meters long with a draught length of 2 meters in low water.Fishing Ports: Passabandar, Beris, Ramin, Pozm, Tung, Galak

Abadan port due to its location at Abadan Island and Coast of Arvand River, it contains special prosperity geographically and economically. Regarding to its near sea relation with Koveit and its inter conjunction routes to capital and neighboring province, it can do as liaison for transit of cargoes from the North and East of the country to Koveit and other countries in Khalig-e-Fars margin.From installation points, a harbor with the approx length of 200 m is going to built which is suitable for operation areas in the port. From equipments points, the port does not have any shortage since it has several lift truck and crane.       The most important destinations of cargoes are Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and U.A.E and the crossed border of transited cars is Bazargan border.       Regarding to its privatively, Abadan port is the first port which has compiled programs in this regard. 

KHURAMSHAHR PORT AFTER ENDING IMPOSED WAR AND AFTER CONSTRUCTIVENESS PERIOD, HAS BEEN FACED WITH MANY AFFAIRS FOR COMPENSATING DAMAGES AND LOOSES,

HAVING MORE THAN 34000 M2 OF TRANSIT WAREHOUSE , 32000 m2 CARGO WAREHOUSES AND ALSO 48000M2 HANGAR WAREHOUSES CONNECTING TO RAIL WAY NETWORK, THIS PORT HAS SUITABLE AND IMMENSE POSSIBILITIES FOR MAINTAINING GOODS.

ALSO WITH OFFERING GUIDANCE SERVICE, POSTING, SERVICES AND HOLDING NAVIGATION SIGNS, ACCORDING TO INTERNAL AND INTERNATIONAL LAWS, PERFORMING SAFE SHIPPING IN ARVAND RIVER.

HAVING ABOVE MENTIONED ADVANTAGES CAUSED KHURAMSHAHR TO BE KNOWN AS A “SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE” OFFICIALLY.

THE PRESENT PASSENGER TERMINAL ZONE, START ITS NEW ACTIVITY FROM DAY, 1372.

PORT AND SHIPPING OPERATIONS:

BERTHING OF THE FIRST VESSEL IN THE TRADING DOCK OF KHURAMSHAHR PORT WAS IN 1382,
IN 1320, 6 DOCKS HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED IN KHURAMSHAHR PORT FOR MILITARY PURPOSE,

IN 1323 ESTABLISHING TWO DOCKS FOR TRADING ACTIVITIES AND IN 1355 ESTABLISHING FOUR OTHER DOCKS FOR THE MENTIONED PROPOSES HAS BEEN FINISHED.


KHURAMSHAR IS 60 MILES (110 KM) FAR FROM THE PERSIAN GOLF AND IT IS 118 KM FAR FROM AHWAZ.

THE TOTAL MENSTRUATION OF KHURAMSHAHR PORT IS 2,300,000 M2.

SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE IN KHURAMSHAHR:

ESTABLISHING SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE WAS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT AFFAIRS IN IMPROVING TRADING ACTIVITIES IN THIS PORT.
